Artist's Statement

“Story is the beating heart of human experience” - Joslyn Chase

Every human has a story to tell and I enjoy doing it visually. Sailing the high seas with my husband for a decade gave me the opportunity to explore the theme of human identity and self-discovery.

I’m deeply moved by the enormity of life and the relative insignificance of an individual in the larger cosmic play. Hence the effort is to try and capture the essence of this philosophy through various mediums, textures and play of colours. I work primarily with Acrylics on canvas and handmade paper enhancing them by the the usage of inks and paints to create movement and luminosity.

My work is a combination of abstraction and representation, they are often stylised shapes and forms that dwell between the familiar and imaginary realms. They are not simply depictions of the world around us but rather an expression of my emotional and spiritual connection to the world of mysticism.

As an artist my goal is to understand, reflect and bring forth the wisdom of the ancients to create a connect between “Self” and “The Absolute”.
